Day 2  November 13th 2022

Gloucester to Windsor

330 kilometres

We will start our journey from the beautiful country town of Gloucester, where we will ride some glorious byways via Stratford, Stroud and Dungog.

We will then ride any biker’s “must do roads”, like the renowned Putty Road.

Exploring the picturesque Putty Road is a task best achieved on two wheels.

Bend, push and twist to your heart’s content on this famed motorcycling route.

The Putty Road is a major sealed road that runs for approximately 170km, passing through the area of Putty, for which it is named. The route is a favourite for many riders, who enjoy the great blend of high-speed open road, with sweeping bends and several areas of tighter smooth corners.

Along the route, we will stop for lunch at one of the many pubs, taverns, or restaurants, such as the Grey Gum Cafe or the Cockfighter's Tavern.

At the end of the Putty Road, we will make our way to our motel in Windsor - the renowned “Crowne Plaza.”

Nestled at the foothills of the Blue Mountains and on the banks of the historic Hawkesbury River, the Hawkesbury Valley is a delightfully diverse destination. As the only 4.5-star hotel in the region, it will allow our customers to indulge in the hotel’s warm hospitality, after a top day of riding.

• Breakfast , lunch, dinner at your own expense

Day 3  November 14th 2022

Windsor to Bathurst

450 Kilometres

Today is a bigger day on the bike, but with a lot of exciting prospects coming up.

Today is a day to take in the beautiful country tarmac roads in NSW and ride what some class as the best two wheel scenic countryside the state has to offer.

The morning will be spent tracking from Windsor to Dapto.

We will make our way to the “World Renowned”, Robertson Pie Shop, for a coffee and a pie or two.

Then we will hit the road and make our way to Goulburn, the home of the Big Merino.

From there the fun really starts - riding the great country roads through the towns of Taralga and Oberon, before finally making our way to our night’s resting spot- Rydges Mount Panorama. 1 conrod straight is the address….. That might sound familiar. That’s because we are staying at the famous Mount Panorama circuit, on the main straight!

Unfortunately, there won’t be any cars races on that weekend, but we can all enjoy some dinner and a beer, chilling in the Chicane Bar & Grill, which features modern Australian cuisine, using the best regional produce and quality meats. The menu is complemented by an impressive wine list, featuring local, regional and international wines, placing our options well above other Bathurst restaurants.

• Breakfast , lunch, dinner at your own expense

Day 4  November 15th 2022

Bathurst to Tamworth

450 Kilometres

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, we wake up, have breakfast and coffee and then do the ultimate. We ride the famous Mount Panorama Circuit!

We will do one (or maybe a few) laps around the circuit, stopping for photos along the way.

Once you have your Peter Brock fix out of your system, we will hit the road again.

Today’s ride takes us through fantastic towns such as Ilford, Kandos, Rylstone, Muswellbrook and Nundle.  We will ride the Bylong Valley Way.

The Bylong Valley Way is a road still escaping some GPS systems, yet it sits among the top 10 rides in the country.

The 140-kilometre stretch, between Ilford and Sandy Hollow, was named in the Top Ten Great Aussie Drives. We will stop for photos along the way and stretch our the legs in the home of the Golden Guitar, “Tamworth”

This is a night we have ramped it up even more!

We will be staying in Tamworth’s only 5 STAR Motel, The Powerhouse Hotel, Tamworth by Rydges.

Dinner is on us tonight!

We will be eating at “The Workshop Kitchen”.

The Workshop Kitchen is an icon of the local dining scene and for good reason. There’s the upmarket aesthetic, accessible location and finessed modern Australian food, backed by a vibrant and extensive cellar.

We will have a set menu of a main and desert (We will send you the choices as we get closer to the ride).

After you have filled your bellies, you can go to the “Coal Bunker Bar” until late serving, cracking cocktails, local brews and a wine list highlighting local producers, Australian and International drops.

Breakfast, lunch at your own expense

Dinner at Aussie Bike or Hike’s expense.

Day 5  November 16th 2022

Tamworth Gloucester

390 Kilometres

Our morning will start with a nice breakfast and then we will wander next door to view the “Powerhouse Motorcycle Museum”.

The Powerhouse Motorcycle Museum is a must see for any bike enthusiast. The museum houses a private collection of over 50 motorcycles, all in pristine working order, from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. The collection of bikes includes Ducati, Triumph, Honda, Velocette, Laverda and an extremely rare limited edition F4 MV Augusta Series ORO, as well as a 1924 Harley Davidson postie bike.

All of the motorcycles have been immaculately restored to concourse condition, plus there are some limited edition current models. You will get to see one of the most unique and high quality displays of motorcycles in Australia.

After a morning viewing, its time to hit the road again.

We make our way to the township of “Walcha”.

Walcha is a motorcycle friendly town, which universally welcomes & embraces motorcyclists.

Don’t be surprised to see a bunch of other motorcyclists in this town.

After a quick fuel up, we head east.

This is where the fun really begins!

Our plan is to ride to Wauchope through the gateway of mountains of the Great Dividing Range. The Oxley Hwy from Walcha to Wauchope is well known & is a “must ride” location. One of the world’s best bike rides, beautifully surfaced and maintained, with sensational scenery, The Oxley, as it is better known, never lets you down, with an endless procession of tight and demanding corners that require a lot of concentration. We will stop at the bike-friendly Gingers Creek Roadhouse, and then pull up at the welcoming Long Flat Pub for a cold drink!

From there, we make our way back to Gloucester to our final resting place for the night, and a few celebratory drinks for a great tour well ridden!

We will stay at the Roundabout Inn once more, and relive the week’s ride in endless tales, more readily embellished no doubt, in the comfy pub surrounds.

Lunch and Dinner at your own expense

Day 6 November 17th 2022

Sadly this final day sees us all waving goodbye and heading home, after having made new friends and enjoying a great week of tarmac riding.

Once again, we will look forward to riding with you all on one of our next tours. Riding on your own is great, but theres’s nothing quite like riding with newfound friends on an organised tour, where all the organisational stress is taken away from you and all you have to do is enjoy your love of motorcycle riding.

Hey, did we mention, we are running an 11 Day, 3 State motorcycle tour in March? Van Diemen’s Expedition – NSW, Vic, Tasmania! If you haven’t already booked your spot, do it now!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need a motorcycle license for riding in NSW?

A:Yes you do. To be legally riding in Australia, you are required to carry your local driving licence, which must cover the size of bike you will be riding

Q: What about Insurance?

A: YES! Domestic travel insurance is cover designed for any trip taken around Australia and we can advise you on Travel Insurance that covers you for cancellations due to Covid 19. You might think you don't need insurance because you have Medicare, but travel insurance for Australia can cover you for things that your medical healthcare doesn't. Even if you're not going too far, things can still go wrong on trips close to home. Remember to get travel insurance that covers motorcycle riding. This is important.

Q: How do I carry my main luggage?

A: We will have a backup vehicle and trailer following the entire tour.

This allows your luggage to go in the vehicle and not on the back of your bike!

Q: How big is the group?

A: We range groups from 10 to 20 people. That keeps it controllable and more personal on each tour.

Q: Will we be guided?

A: Yes Alex Cudlin and Shane Cudlin (licenced riding instructor and coach) will take care of you, via guiding and pointing you in the right direction when you want to have a fang. Both Alex and Shane are highly experienced motorcycle riders, trainers and tour guides.

Q: Will a mechanic be riding or driving with us?

A: We will have a qualified mechanic on this tour, but we do not have many spares. Remember you are bringing your own bike on this tour, so, it's important you have it checked before departing. We can help tighten a bolt and plug a tyre, but crash damage or major mechanical problems will be something that you will need to deal with. You can pack some spare parts in our back-up vehicle during the tour. Make sure your bike is all ready to go before tour departure, and that you have a full tank of fuel when you arrive at our tour start.

Q: Is there any medical support?

A: Yes. Both Shane and Alex are First Aid qualified. The backup vehicle will carry a first aid kit to help with cuts or bruises. If major incidents occur we will call for ambulance.

Q: What riding kit should I wear?

A: We are riding a lot of different roads, plenty of mountains and some countryside. You’ll want gear that is comfortable to wear for long periods of time, gear that is warm if it gets cold in the mountainous areas, and gear that can be vented on the hot days. We all know how changeable the weather can be in Australia. Wet Weather Gear is a MUST!

Q: How much spending money will I need to bring with me?

A: This is completely up to you. We supply the route, hotels, guides, backup vehicle and entry into the attractions listed, but you'll be up for your own food, drinks, fuel and souvenirs. It’s always good to have some cash in your pocket in case card machines don’t work.

Q: What is the accommodation like?

A: GREAT!!!! We have arranged a variety of clean and comfortable accommodation that is motorcycle friendly.

Q: Can you cater for vegetarians / food allergies?

A: We will stop at restaurants and cafes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This allows you to choose what you want and eat what suits your diet. Remember food and drinks is at your own cost, so choose what you please in this regard.

Q: Who operates this tour?

A: This tour is operated by Aussie Bike or Hike

Who is your Guide

Alex Cudlin, the owner and head guide of "Aussie Bike or Hike".

Alex Cudlin’s love for the great outdoors was built from a very young age, having grown up on a small farm in Australia with his parents and an older brother and sister. Alex competed in the World Endurance Championships all over Europe, Asia and Middle East, becoming World Champion in 2010 and 2013.

Alex lived and raced in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, for a total of 12 years winning a total of 2 World championships, top 3 finish in the World championship 5 times, 7 national championships and a lot of race wins.

Throughout this journey of traveling the world racing motorcycles, Alex’s love for mountain biking and hiking grew.
