16k Coast and Climb Trek (1 Day )
Tours on June 6th 2020
Service Description
Join us for an exciting one day walking trek that takes in some of the most glorious coastal scenery the Mid North Coast in Laurieton has to offer, as well as taking you to heights that will take your breath away. The morning portion of our trek will be all about the picturesque coastline at our fingertips. Diamond Head Beach is a standout destination - one of many glorious beaches the Mid North Coast of NSW has to offer, and what better place to begin our trek? Hiking in such a picture-perfect setting, with the almost deserted beaches and crashing waves is exhilarating. There’s nothing better than breathing in that fresh salt air as we begin our trek. It’s easily accessible by foot and is rich in both marine and shore-dwelling wildlife. You may be lucky enough to see pods of dolphins as they frequent the waters just off the beach’s main strip, and Whales can sometimes be spotted during their annual migration season. The beach also boasts outstanding surfing conditions around the Diamond headland. This loop is 10 kilometres in total. Once returning to our vehicles, you will be treated to a delicious spread of homemade gourmet food. Everything is freshly made and specially selected and served by your Aussie Bike or Hike guides. Our tasty lunch dishes, served to you beside the water, are always a highlight of this one day trek. After refueling on lunch deliciousness, it’s time to begin our challenging, but very rewarding hike up North Brother Mountain The summit of North Brother Mountain is 490 meters and offers superb views over the coastline, the lakes and the mouth of the Camden Haven River. You’ll also be able to see as far as Crowdy and Harrington, as well as Middle Brother and South Brother Mountains in the distance. This is one of Australia's most impressive coastal panoramas. On May 12th, 1770, Captain James Cook entered in his ship’s log a description of his experiences of the sailing past Laurieton, and you can read an excerpt of this event on a special plaque at the top of the mountain. Perfect photo opportunity. The area is characterised by large stands of rainforest, which are rich in native fauna and flora. After catching your breath and taking in the magnificent views at the top of the mountain, you will have 2 options. You can either jump into our van and have the friendly Aussie Bike or Hike crew drive you to the bottom of the mountain, or you hike back
